How Value is Determined when Selling Your Baseball Cards
Like other investments or collectibles, the value of baseball cards is determined by several factors. The most important factors are content, condition, age, and scarcity. If you're selling a collection, the baseball cards buyers at Midwest Mint & Sports Room are determined to give you the highest value for your pre-1970 cards!

Content - Who or what is on the card
Obviously the person or event featured on the baseball card is of major importance. Certain baseball stars are always in high demand; Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron ... the list could go on and on. But even if you don't have these stars, many collectors are trying to fill in teams or complete sets of any given year, so we may well buy your baseball cards, even if they're not all-stars. A sub-category here is rookie cards, i.e., the baseball card issued in a player's first year in the major leagues.

Condition - Grading baseball cards
For most serious baseball card collectors, the card's condition is of great importance when determining value. Many of the most desirable collectible cards are professionally graded, as in this example. See more information about grading baseball cards.

Age - What year was the baseball card made?
Since baseball cards are basically made out of paper, many older cards have not survived simply due to deterioration or damage. Thus, generally speaking, the older the card the more valuable it is. Some cards still survive from the 1890s and of course we will buy them, up through the 1960s. See lists of the old and vintage baseball cards we are buying.

Scarcity - Rare baseball cards
Some baseball cards are rare because not many were made, or because they are old, or simply because not many of them were kept, as in this example. Generally, the more rare a baseball card is, the greater its value.
